I begin by understanding what you want the piece to do-hide clutter, create a focal point, add warmth, or solve an awkward layout issue. Then I look closely at the surrounding architecture, existing trim, and finishes so the new woodwork feels like it belongs. Proportions matter, so I pay attention to scale, thickness, and spacing to avoid something that looks either too heavy or too delicate.

My mechanical engineering background keeps me focused on structure and movement, so I design joints and attachments that allow the wood to expand and contract without cracking or pulling away from walls.
During fabrication and installation, I take care with every cut, edge, and fastener. I dry-fit components, adjust for uneven walls and floors, and sand and finish surfaces so they feel smooth to the touch and look clean in natural and artificial light. Throughout the project, I keep you updated on progress so you know when I am building in the shop, when I will be on site, and when finishes need time to cure.
